From Waste to Wear — The MI Circular Way

From Waste to Wear — The MI Circular Way

Minimizing waste and making the most of our resources. Instead of the traditional linear modeltake, make, dispose — the circular economy aims for a loop: make, use, reuse, remake, recycle.

Today, MI are publishing an additional option to our customers to reduce their costs and help work towards their sustainability and Net Zero targets. MI can offer our customer options of taking clothing and PPE away, with products then inspected, cleaned and returned if required using OTEX Disinfection Technology, reducing expenditure costs for brand new products.

Alternatively, product can be recycled responsibly, with products re-purposed in to items such as pipe liners, pet bedding, garden membrane and polymer extraction.

By working with MI, we schedule collection dates of your returned products, each site receives a delivery note accompanied by a detailed batch analysis and a waste transfer note, ensuring full traceability and compliance. Invoice generated would be specific to your collection and costed by the kg.

At MI, we believe sustainability should be more than just a label—it should be built into every thread, every product, and every choice we make.
For years, we've offered our customers a complete head-to-toe collection made from responsibly sourced, eco-friendly materials. Whether it's apparel, helmets, eyewear, footwear, our products are designed with both performance and the planet in mind.

From the first stitch to the final package, we're closing the loop—delivering circular waste solutions and redefining what it means to wear your values.

For a number of years, MI have included in our product offering items such as high visibility clothing made from recycled and sustainably sourced fabrics. Our EcoViz® products fully conform to ISO 20471 and are constructed from fabrics derived either from recycled post-consumer clothing or recycled plastic bottles.

  • The clothing industry is responsible for around 10% of all global greenhouse gas emissions.
  • It consumes more energy than the aviation and shipping industries combined.
  • 85% of textiles that could be reused or recycled end up in landfills or are incinerated, processes which, in themselves, pollute the planet.

Our recently launched Uneek Eco Range has for example material content of 50% Recycled Polyester 30% Recycled Cotton 20% Organic Cotton in it's products, read more here.

At the heart of our work with our customers, lies a powerful commitment: prolonging the life cycle of resources through smart, sustainable practices.

By incorporating a circular waste solution, we not only care for garments—we reduce textile waste, conserve water and energy, and return valuable materials back into the system.

Whether it's gentle cleaning processes, fiber recovery, or biodegradable detergents, every step of our service is designed to:

Extend the life of clothing
Minimise environmental impact
Support a circular economy model

Benefits of Our Circular Laundry System:

  • Garment Longevity: Advanced fabric care techniques reduce wear and tear.
  • Waste Diversion: Damaged textiles are sorted for recycling, upcycling, or fiber regeneration.
  • Eco-smart Products: Use of eco-certified detergents and water-efficient machines.
  • Data-Driven Insights: Track wear, wash cycles, and material degradation to inform responsible replacement.

Re-use. Reduce. Rethink.

A Smarter Approach to PPE and Workwear

Re-using your PPE and workwear isn’t just good practice—it’s smart business. Here’s what it means for you:

Lower Operational Costs
Significant Reduction in Environmental Impact
Alignment with Your Net Zero Goals

According to WRAP, for every tonne of PPE you re-use, you avoid 14.7 tonnes of Scope 3 CO₂e emissions—a powerful step toward decarbonizing your supply chain.

Our laundry process uses OTEX Disinfection Technology.
